CALMR at The Fix: Bringing the Power of Touch to Health Tech
Last week we had the privilege of being part of The Fix at Harwell Campus nr Oxford—a festival that sits at the very cutting edge of health technology, bringing together scientists, clinicians, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Amongst all the energy, ideas, and brilliant chaos of the event, CALMR offered something a little different: a place to pause, to breathe, and to feel.
We created a calmer zone where visitors could step away from the bustle and experience the power of touch through The Hug and the Cape of Good Hope. What unfolded was remarkable.
As people settled into the chairs or wrapped themselves in the calming weight of the Hug, you could see shoulders drop, tension soften, and busy minds quieten. One entrepreneur described it perfectly:
“It all just melted away, and I forgot where I was.”
Another Scientist said:
“Wow, I really feel it—but how does it work?”
That question became a beautiful moment of connection. I explained how deep pressure stimulation communicates directly with the nervous system, helping the body shift from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest. It’s not about numbing or distracting the mind—it’s about activating the body’s own natural ability to regulate itself.
The reactions reminded me why CALMR exists. In the middle of a festival showcasing AI, biotech, and medical devices, what resonated most was the simplest of truths: humans are wired for touch. And when we provide the right kind of sensory input, we unlock calm, focus, and presence—even in the busiest environments.
I’m grateful to all at Voyagers.io and The Fix for creating the stage to share CALMR’s vision and to everyone who stepped into our space to try it for themselves. Watching people leave lighter, calmer, and a little more grounded was the best proof of all that clothing that calms belongs at the heart of our health future.
Watch this space... on collaborations that arise from sharing the experience with many of the fields leading innovators in health.
